Internal medicine deals with all body organ systems. This includes diseases of the lung, liver, kidney and intestine as well as metabolic disorders, immunological diseases, blood conditions or infectious diseases.
Diseases of the internal organs are usually associated with very nonspecific symptoms such as weight gain or loss, hair loss, loss of physical fitness or increased thirst. The disease condition is not clear-cut, and the causes are hard to identify.
Careful assessment and precise diagnosis are therefore basic requirements for successful treatment of internal diseases.
