Hip joint prostheses

The commonest indication for inserting a new hip is severe hip dysplasia. The operation can also be performed for hip fractures or dislocations where a satisfactory result cannot be achieved by other operation procedures. When a new hip is inserted, the diseased joint is replaced by an artificial hip prosthesis. As soon as the prosthesis has healed, the dog will be able to lead a normal dog’s life again.
Knee and elbow replacements have now been successfully performed in veterinary medicine also.
